Trading In Fairness – Fairtrade Fortnight 2018
Fairtrade Fortnight, this year held from 26th February to 11th March, invites people to join the Fair Trade movement across Wales and the UK and to learn more about how Fair Trade impacts the lives of producer communities across the world.
Ogmore Assembly Member and Welsh Government Minister Huw Irranca-Davies is encouraging people to get involved with Fairtrade Fortnight and to promote Fairtrade products.
The Assembly Member stated: “Most of us by now are aware of the ‘Fairtrade’ campaign and the efforts made to provide farmers and producers living in the Third World a better life, seeing them paid a fair wage for their work and by receiving a fair price for their goods.
Fairtrade fortnight is a great opportunity to highlight our nationwide passion and commitment to helping people living across the world who live in appalling conditions, paid only a few pence for working long, back-breaking hours producing goods for our supermarkets. By making simple shopping choices we can impact on people’s lives, by helping farmers get a better deal and control their own futures. Look out for Fairtrade events in your area over the next couple of weeks and the Fairtrade symbols on products in our stores.”
