Tackling cancer together

Updated: Aug 18

Local Members of the Senedd, Huw Irranca-Davies for Ogmore and Sarah Murphy for Bridgend, are joining the FAW, Tenovus and football fans across Wales to “tackle cancer together.”

We all know someone who’s been affected by cancer. Since the pandemic, 35,000 fewer people have been sent for vital cancer tests in Wales – that is enough people to fill Cardiff City Stadium, Cymru’s home ground! That’s six people every 90 minutes!

That’s why Huw and Sarah are supporting the Football Association of Wales and the Cymru Football Team who are partnering with Tenovus Cancer Care this summer, and you can too.

Tenovus provide treatment, emotional support and practical advice to families affected by cancer in communities across Wales.

You can show your support like Wales manager Robert Page and the Cymru Team and make a difference too. You can:

  • buy a Tenovus limited-edition wristbands

  • get involved with their Euros Sweepstake or Wear Red for Cymru when Wales play in the Euros

Huw said, “Thank you to everyone at Tenovus for all they do to tackle cancer and good luck to the Wales team. C’mon Cymru!”.

Sarah added, “This summer I will be backing the Welsh team and supporting the Tenovus campaign AND am urging residents in Bridgend to do the same.”
