Remembering Parc Slip - Mining Disaster Tragedy
Huw Irranca-Davies MS joined with others to remember the ‘Parc Slip Mining Disaster’ and those men and boys who died.
A poignant and moving ceremony held at the Parc Slip Nature Reserve saw many come together once again on the Anniversary at 8.20am – the time of the explosion – to keep the faith with the 112 men and boys killed in the Parc Slip Colliery disaster of 26th August 1892.
Only 39 survived, and the youngest was just 13.
In the tranquil and serene surroundings of the country park, the harsh lessons of our industrial past were in our minds again.
