Huw welcomes news that the Welsh Ambulance Service is the only service across the UK that is hitting targets for responding to life-threatening “Red” calls – like cardiac arrests – which are targeted to be reached in eight minutes.
Not only is Wales meeting the national target for response times, but we are now leading the UK for speed of response to these acutely ill patients. The national response time target for Red calls in Wales has been met in every month since the introduction of a new clinical response model which is putting greater focus on the quality of care people receive.
Huw said: “Despite many challenges, our Ambulance Service is approaching winter in a much better position than in previous years. Our front-line staff in the Ambulance Service have worked really hard to get where they are today, and they deserve our praise.”
