Ogmore AM and MP Help Judge Annual “Y Bont Bake Off”

Huw Irranca-Davies and Chris Elmore, the local AM and MP for Ogmore, took time out from their Parliamentary duties to help judge Y Bont’s annual Bake Off competition.

Y Bont is a Bridgend-based charity working to support children with disabilities to reach their full potential.

The Ogmore duo joined several new judges this year, including a semi-finalist for the television version of the Great British Bake Off, to sort their way through the stiff competition of cakes that were vying to win this year’s competition.

The money raised at the event will go towards supporting the work of Y Bont throughout the year.

Huw Irranca-Davies AM said: “I think I need a lie down after all that cake! It really has been brilliant to help judge Y Bont’s Bake Off again this year – the money raised really is invaluable in supporting the charity’s work.

“A huge thank you, as ever, to the extraordinary team working at Y Bont for all you do for people across Bridgend County Borough. I’m looking forward to next year’s competition already.”

Chris Elmore MP said: “This is one of the real highlights of my year! While it may be a challenge for my waist line, it’s always fantastic to see so many people raising money to support the fantastic team at Y Bont who work hard, day-in, day-out, to give disabled young people across Bridgend County Borough the best start in life.

“Many thanks to everyone who took part this year and to the team for such a warm welcome. I look forward to seeing you all again soon!”
