Marking Children’s Mental Health Week with Pencoed Scouts
Children’s Mental Health Week held in February aimed to encourage children, young people and adults to celebrate their uniqueness and to ‘Be Ourselves’.
As part of ongoing events held throughout the country, Ogmore Assembly Member and Welsh Government Minister Huw Irranca-Davies met with the Pencoed Scout Group to discuss the importance of well-being and what our Welsh Labour Government is doing to help children and young people maintain good mental health.
The Assembly Member thanked the group for their warm welcome and said: “A very productive meeting with the Pencoed Scouts where we had open and frank discussions about children’s well-being. It is always good to hear comments directly from the children and to gain an insight into their thoughts about mental health and how situations affect their daily lives. We should continue to empower children so that they can be part of decision-making and feel they can speak out about emotional issues”.
