Is Your Business Ready for Brexit – Deal or No Deal? If not, you’re running out of time

The UK is due to leave the EU on 31st October – with or without a deal – and the Welsh Government has published important advice for businesses to prepare via a ‘5 point check-list’ which asks:

  1. If you are an importer or exporter, you’ll need an Economic Registration and Identification (EORI) number.  Get an EORI number on GOV.UK

  2. Do you use or transfer personal data into the UK? Make sure you continue to comply with GDPR regulations. Check the Information Commissioner’s Office for more information –  Leaving the EU: 6 steps to take on

  3. Do you employ EU citizens? They will need to apply to remain in Wales through the EU Settled Status Scheme.  EU Settlement Scheme: employer toolkit on GOV.UK

  4. If you are a manufacturer, check regulatory requirements for UK and EU markets for labelling, approvals and testing.  Regulations and standards after Brexit on GOV.UK

  5. You can visit our Business Wales Brexit Portal to assess how prepared your business is and get detailed and expert advice.

With the real and ongoing threat of a No-Deal “Hard” Brexit, Ogmore Assembly Member Huw Irranca-Davies is urging all businesses across his constituency to ensure they are ‘Brexit-ready’ by completing the check-list to safeguard their business.

The Ogmore AM stated: “Leaving the EU without a deal is something that we want the UK government to avoid at all costs, because of the damage it will cause to jobs and the economy. But we also need to be responsible in preparing for this happening, or for a Brexit deal, as this will have major implications for trade and jobs. I therefore urge all businesses across Ogmore to make preparations urgently as October 31st is fast approaching. Make sure your business is Brexit ready.”
