Huw Irranca-Davies MS and Chris Elmore MP organise the Jo Cox Great Walk Together
Chris Elmore, MP for Ogmore, and Huw Irranca-Davies, MS for Ogmore, are co-hosting the Jo Cox Great Walk Together on Saturday 19th June at 2pm. The walk will last approximately an hour and will follow the Ogmore Valley Heritage Trail, starting and ending at the Memorial Hall in Nantymoel.
The Great Walk Together is being held as part of the The Great Get Together, an initiative of the Jo Cox Foundation held annually during the weekend around Jo’s birthday. This annual celebration helps bring people together each June and unites communities through local events.
The Jo Cox Great Walk Together event is being run in conjunction with the Nantymoel Boys and Girls Clubs who will be providing refreshments, and is kindly sponsored by Rockwool.
Due to current Covid-19 restrictions only 30 people will be allowed so please contact firstname.lastname@example.org to register your interest.
Huw Irranca-Davies, MS for Ogmore, said:
“The Jo Cox Great Get Together is a perfect time to celebrate the community spirit and resilience seen throughout the pandemic. And as we slowly emerge after a very difficult year of covid restrictions – and isolation for many, Jo’s #MoreinCommon message is more important than ever.
“Chris Elmore MP and I are delighted to join with members of our local and historic Boys and Girls Clubs for our very own version of a ‘Jo Cox Great Walk Together’, to celebrate what Ogmore’s vibrant communities hold in common – with the added bonus of taking in the beautiful sites of the scenic Ogmore constituency.”
Chris Elmore, MP for Ogmore, said:
“Jo Cox believed strongly that we have more in common than that which divides us, and it’s in this spirit that we wanted to put on an event that could foster new community connections and contribute to building a positive legacy for Jo.
“This event is taking place as part of the Jo Cox Great Get Together celebration, and Huw and I hope to bring people in our community together and celebrate Jo’s #MoreInCommon message.
“The Great Walk Together is a fantastic opportunity to meet new people from around Ogmore, so I would encourage constituents to come along and celebrate our community whilst enjoying the fantastic Ogmore Valley Heritage Trail.”
