Ogmore MP Huw Irranca-Davies has welcomed steps by Bridgend County Borough Council to create a series of free drop-in ‘digital workshops’ aimed at helping job seekers in need of ICT support.
The ‘Digiworks’ will cover the basics of ICT; including using the internet for job searching, managing online claim channels and sending an electronic CV. Funded by the Welsh Government and administrated by the Bridgend Library Service the workshops will run at the following dates and times: • Monday: 09.30 – 12.00 (Bridgend Library) and 13.30 – 16.00 (Pyle Library) • Tuesday: 09.30 – 12.00 (Bettws Life Centre) and 13.30 – 16.00 (Wildmill Community Centre) • Wednesday: 09.30 – 12.00 (Pencoed Library) The Digital Workshops will run on a pilot basis for three months.
“The internet has become part of everyday life, and knowing how to effective use it is vital for everyone including job seekers. The Digital Workshops provide the perfect opportunity to get fast, free help and advice in their local library or community hub. They will provide free and straight forward ICT advice to help job seekers in their search for employment.”
