Bonnets Galore at Llanharan OAP’s Annual Easter Bonnet Parade

In spectacular style and as expected, this year’s Llanharan OAP’s annual Easter bonnet parade once again produced some exceptional designs of bonnets at Llanharan Rugby Club.

With a great turnout, the fun event, (of course without any underlying competitiveness!) saw bonnets and costumes this year, ranging from bizarre to traditional in great style. This year with the added appearance of a fully dressed chicken.

Ogmore Assembly Member Huw Irranca-Davies who was one of the judges was joined by local residents, school children of Dolau Primary School and Llanharan OAP Association amongst others.

Mr Irranca-Davies said: “Always a great day at the Easter bonnet parade despite having the difficult task of judging the bonnets which were all excellent and a special mention to the chicken costume wearer.

Whilst enjoying music accompaniment from local Councillor Geraint Hopkins on keyboard, it was a delight to join with event organisers Gill Richards and her team. A big thank you to the children and staff of Dolau School along with everyone else who helped make another successful and enjoyable event. Well done everyone involved, a special and much loved event for the community of Llanharan”.
