A recent visit to the new Betws Primary School allowed pupils and other representatives to look around the new state-of-the-art school which is near completion and on track to open in January 2018.
Situated next to the current Primary school, the pupils have eagerly watched the construction develop. Following the transition to the new school, the former primary will be demolished to make way for a new Ysgol Gynradd Gymraeg Cwm Garw which will relocate from nearby Pontycymer.
Ogmore Assembly Member Huw Irranca-Davies who attended the visit said: “Successful joint working and funding from Bridgend County Borough Council and the Welsh Labour Government via the ‘21st Century Schools Programme’ will see two modern teaching facilities sitting side by side in Betws.
This continued investment will see both new schools fully equipped with modern facilities and improved access for disabled children. They will be amongst the very best in Wales and provide children with the best start in their education. Well done to all involved.”
