A Big Welcome for Pontycymer’s Men’s Shed
As the Men’ Shed Movement steadily grows across Wales, its success is clearly seen in the flourishing Sheds continuing to pop up across Ogmore. Under the umbrella of the Men’s Sheds Cymru Association, the movement has now been officially constituted as a Cooperative, owned wholly by its members, enabling them to sustain and grow.
Residents of Pontycymer recently welcomed the opening of their very own Men’s Shed, the latest addition of our Shed’s in Ogmore. Set up by Shed Manager Maxine and supported by fellow neighbouring Sheds Cwm Ogwr and Caerau.
A big supporter of Men’s Sheds, Ogmore Assembly Member Huw Irranca-Davies was invited to attend the official opening where he joined Councillor Rod Shaw, local residents and organisations to welcome the new Shed.
Following the visit the Ogmore AM said: “Another great launch, another great Men’s Shed for Ogmore residents, hopefully with more to come.
Our Sheds help to combat social isolation whilst raising awareness of mental health and promoting self-help emotional well-being. I’m sure the Pontycymer Shed will be successful and wish them all the best for the future.”
